Index to California Coastal Records Project Photographs: SF Peninsula and Monterey Bay Sandy Beaches

We have so many sandy beaches in the SF Peninsula area with so little time to fish them all! Most of the beaches have little fishing pressure and have potential for a good year-around fishery for surfperch.

Here's a list of links to the wonderful coastal photographs from the California Coastal Records Project (CCRP). I have complied with their linking standards. Check with them if you are interested in linking to the photos.

The CCRP photographs are taken at different times in the day and in different seasons. The helicopter location and the dates of the photographs are including in the list. The state of tides varies of course. The early spring photographs show more beach structure due to the effects of the winter storms.

The beaches are not necessarily accessible. Almost all of them should be. Some are private but can be used with a fee. Access to a few may be private.

I include sandy beaches that seem to be worth scouting from San Francisco to the Carmel area. The listed beaches will serve as a point of focus to explore the surrounding coastline using CCRP web site navigation. I have fished a small fraction of this water. If you have any experience with any of these beaches or others and want to share information on access, beach and surf characteristics and resident fish, please send email to me.
